NEIRF Projects DIME 2

DIME 2

Overview
Location:

River Dore, Herefordshire

Geographical Context:
  • Freshwater, Wetlands
  • Grassland
  • Mountain, Moor, and Heathland
  • Woodland

DIME 2

The Wye and Usk Foundation aims to establish a Natural Flood Management trading market in the River Dore catchment, Herefordshire. Farmers, as the ‘sellers’, will offer land use changes such as grazing management change or tree planting. Organisations and private companies impacted by flooding will act as the buyers, paying for these changes. The market will incentivise good practice by making it financially viable for farmers, whilst benefitting buyers.

NEIRF Round 3

This project is supported by the Natural Environment Investment Readiness Fund (NEIRF), as part of their third round of funding, announced in 2024.

Project Aim
  • Influence land management to decrease flooding.

Revenue model
  • Revenue generated from NFM interventions looking to utilise a volumetric approach. Beneficiary buyers funding blended with wider landscape opportunities including BNG and carbon.
