The Nature Tech Expo 2024 will include an exciting programme of talks, panel discussions and side sessions. The EKN team is currently working hard to bring you the best expertise and insight on the many aspects of digital technology for nature recovery and nature-based solutions in the UK and beyond. The programme will be updated in response. Follow EKN on LinkedIn for news and speaker announcements as they happen.

The focus for the first day (25th June) is digital technologies for use by people working in paid roles. The second day (26th June) includes a focus on digital technologies that can involve all citizens.

Tuesday 25th June

James McBreen, Global Lead for the IUCN Tech4Nature programme will provide an opening speech to highlight the global emergence of nature tech. This will be followed by a discussion between a panel of environmental and technology industry experts, who will provide insight on the future for nature tech in the UK.

In this session, we will hear from a leader at the forefront of the application of AI in nature recovery.

After enjoying a hearty lunch, tune in to conversations with innovators in the application of digital technologies for nature recovery. Guests will include partners in the Space4Nature Programme. Make the most of the displays from leading providers of digital technologies.

Technology has a key role to play in driving the monitoring, reporting and verification of habitat restoration and nature-based solutions. Join this panel discussion to gain insight from leading providers of technologies that can underpin financial innovation for nature and nature-based solutions. Discover the needs and capabilities of this fast-growing arena of innovation and enterprise. Find out what difference technologies can make to buyers, sellers, investors, and enablers of new transactions.

Wednesday 26th June

Guest speaker with expertise in visualisation for nature recovery.

Technology brings huge opportunities to engage citizens in nature recovery, and to harness their capacity to generate new insights. Find out more through this presentation and discussion with partners in iNaturalist UK. With Giselle Sterry, National Biodiversity Network and Dan Lear, Marine Biological Association.

After enjoying lunch, tune in to conversations with those leading on technologies that can engage citizens in nature recovery. Make the most of the displays from leading providers of digital technologies.

In this session, an expert from the digital games industry will be in conversation with a leader in nature conservation. They will illuminate how apps and games can help citizens engage in UK nature recovery.

Join this session to discover a selection of digital games that support nature recovery and nature-based solutions. Featuring:

  • Henry Driver with the Silhouette is a game created by students and alumni from West Suffolk College. In the game players grow their own unique woodland habitats, which then funds tree planting.
  • Other exciting games on show are to be announced.
