Orna NiChionna is the Senior Independent Director at Burberry plc. She is Chair of the Eden Project.

She has served as Deputy Chair and Interim Chair of the National Trust and as a Trustee of Sir John Soane’s Museum. She was Chair of environmental charity the Soil Association for six years.

She was Chair of digital innovation consultancy Founders Intelligence until its sale to Accenture. She has served as Senior Independent Director of major UK companies including Saga, Royal Mail, Bupa, Northern Foods, and HMV. She also served on the board of Bank of Ireland UK and has been an advisor to Apax Partners LLP. She chaired Eden McCallum’s Advisory Board for many years.

She spent 18 years at McKinsey and Company’s London office, where she was the first woman to be elected Partner. She is Irish and holds degrees in Electronic Engineering from University College Dublin and University College Cork; and an MBA with distinction from Harvard Business School.

Jonathan has been involved with Groundswell from its earliest days and formally became Chair at the start of 2026. He spent the last 11 years at Octopus Investments, seven of those as Chief Investment Officer. He started his career as an Accountant at PWC, spent eight years in Investment Banking as an equity analyst (Robert Fleming (now part of JP Morgan)) and in M&A at BNP Paribas. He was then the first non-founder employee at Mecom Group plc, a business that grew from a standing start to become an international newspaper and media organisation with over 10,00 employees. Immediately prior to Octopus, Jonathan ran a team of private equity and finance professional responsible for the equity holdings in over 200 companies help by Lloyds Banking Group, as a result of financial restructurings or historic direct investments.

David has worked in the pension and financial services industry for over 35 years and has both UK and international experience. Alongside his role with Investors For Purpose, he is an accredited professional pension Trustee. His Trustee appointments include schemes with FTSE 100 and FTSE 250 sponsors and with the Smart Pension Master Trust. David has broad investment, risk management and operational experience across both defined benefit and defined contribution schemes. He has a particular interest in ESG and climate change. Prior experience includes senior management roles with Tesco and professional service firms including Deloitte and KPMG and Fidelity Investments in the US.

Lisa Mcllvenna has worked in Business in the Community (BITC) Northern Ireland since 2013. BITC is the UK’s largest and longest-established responsible business network. She believes business is, and should be, a force for good. Lisa led the creation of BITC’s ground-breaking tool to help companies measure and benchmark their corporate social responsibility – CORE: The Standard for Responsible Business. She holds a PhD in Responsible Business from Queen’s University Belfast and lectures on responsible business and sustainability. Lisa is a member of B Lab’s European Regional Advisory Group and the Derry and Strabane Sustainability and Climate Commission.
