EKN Event: Natural Capital Finance and Investment Conference 2022

October 19th - 20th, 9:10-16:30 (UTC/GMT)

The Natural Capital Finance & Investment Conference is a unique forum that brings together representatives from financial services and stewardship of the natural environment to catalyse the emerging nature-based green finance and investment market in the UK. Natural capital finance has a central role to play in our response to the dual biodiversity and climate crises, with the potential to unlock much-needed finance to restore nature’s balance and ability to provide vital ecosystem services for the future.

This fifth Natural Capital Finance & Investment Conference will bring you the latest insight into fast-emerging markets for environmental services, and the associated finance & investment. We will showcase the very best of the project pipeline from around the UK.

External Event: Green Finance Institute Showcase of the Wyre River Natural Flood Management Project
May 13th at 10am

The Project developed a delivery plan of natural flood management interventions over 70 hectares and across six to 10 properties in the catchment in the Forest of Bowland. More than 1,000 targeted measures will act to store floodwater and prevent peak flow - delivered and maintained by farmers and The Rivers Trust. Beneficiaries of the reduced flood risk including United Utilities, the Environment Agency and Flood Re are paying for interventions, and a Community Interest Company was established and has successfully raised the upfront finance for the project to go ahead.

Four of the key stakeholders will share about the project, the challenges, successes and learnings.

Panelists:

  • Dan Hird, Nature Finance
  • Dan Turner The Rivers Trust
  • Tom Myerscough, Wyre Rivers Trust
  • James Airton, United Utilities

There will be an opportunity for the audience to ask questions.
