Investing to Green Greater Manchester

Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) showcased its Natural Capital Investment Plan at a conference on 30th January 2019 (Download here). Alongside the plan the authority launched a webpage dedicated to the nature of Greater Manchester.

Morning Session: Opening presentations and discussion

This video contains an address to begin the day from GMCA's Mark Atherton. Content begins at the 13 minute point.

This video picks up with Alex Ganotis (leader of Stockport Council), followed by Neil Davies (Environment Agency), Louise Wilson (Abundance Investment) and Ian Dickie (one of the directors of eftec). These four then come together for a Q&A panel discussion chaired by Mark Atherton (GMCA). At the end of the discussion is Chris Matthews (Vice Chair Greater Manchester Natural Capital Group; Head of Sustainability at United Utilities)

Morning Session: Programme-based seminars - Investment Readiness Fund

This parallel session is convened by Mark Atherton (GMCA), with presentations from Jamie Mansfield (Co-founder and Director at Environmental Finance) and Matthew Ellis (Climate Resilience Officer, GMCA)

Afternoon Session: Delivering Carbon trading, Learning from the Social Investment market and first half of Systainable Drainage System Model session

This video begins with Chris Matthews (Vice Chair Greater Manchester Natural Capital Group; Head of Sustainability at United Utilities) reconvening the conference. He introduces presentations from Becky Coffin (Head of Sustainability and Environment, Heathrow Airport) alongside Mick Weston (Head of Operations, Lancashire Wildlife Trust). They are followed by Dan Hird (Head of Corporate Finance at Triodos Bank). 

We are then taken to the afternoon parallel sessions, with James Airton (United Utilities) convening and the first two presentations from Amanda Skeldon (Business in the Community) and Tom Curtis (3Keel Consulting). The final presentation from this session is where the next video begins.

Afternoon Session: Final presentation Systainable Drainage Systems Model, Feedback and wrap up - including closing remarks from Dusty Gedge (President, European Green Roof and Wall Associations) and Andrew Bester (CEO, The Cooperative Bank)

This video picks up with the last Systainable Drainage Systems Model presentation by Jonny Saddler (Manchester Climate Change Agency), followed by a wrap up of the day from various speakers and closing remarks by Dusty Gedge (President, European Green Roof and Wall Associations) and Andrew Bester (CEO, The Cooperative Bank)
