Edinburgh event on ecosystem services

The Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) was established to provide information on the relationship between biodiversity, ecosystem services and people. ESCom, the Ecosystem Service Community for Scotland is organising a 2 hour discussion in Edinburgh on 9th March of progress with this international programme. Among the panelists for the discussion are Sally Thomas, the Head of the Land Use and Biodiversity policy team at Scottish Government and Prof Mark Rounsevell from Edinburgh University.

Green infrastructure fund for Scotland

Green Infrastructure Strategic Intervention, part of European Structural and Investment Funding, aims to create better places that enhance quality of life for urban residents by improving the quality, accessibility and quantity of green infrastructure in Scotland’s major towns and cities. It is to be delivered through the Green Infrastructure Fund, which will be overseen by Scottish Natural Heritage through to 2019.  The intention is to deliver at least 15 projects across Scotland that improve or create around 140 hectares of urban green infrastructure by 2023.
