The Natural Capital Committee for England - appointed by HM Government - has published its fourth assessment report.
This report sets out the work done by the committee since March 2016. It also makes a series of recommendations to government on developing the 25 year environment plan. It includes recommendations such as:
- A programme of investment in natural capital by the private and public sectors is required to deliver the government’s 25 Year Environment Plan ambition.
- Local authorities and major infrastructure providers should ensure that natural capital is protected and improved, consistent with the overall objective of the 25 Year Environment Plan.
- England’s National Parks contain very significant natural capital, and their powers and duties should be extended to support the objectives of the 25 Year Environment Plan.
